Hello, I’m Elaine Dunphy, the founder of Job Application Coach, or JAC for short.
I’m a coach, consultant and entrepreneur, having established (in 1993) and grown an award-winning HR & Management consultancy, prior to founding Job Application Coach in 2023. With a proven track record of helping leaders and senior managers to better manage their organisation – as well as their own career – I’ve helped many to secure their next role.
“The quality of your support to our organisation has been vital to our success". Vice President, European Manufacturing
A former HR & Regional Board Director for a plc employing over 600,000 people, I’m a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and an experienced psychometric tester and assessor.
I've designed and managed numerous in-house recruitment projects, so I know how HR departments, recruitment specialists and decision-makers think about and approach recruitment. What’s really important to them. How they process and shortlist candidates. And how they make the final recruitment decision.
Having over three decades of recruitment, business and leadership expertise, means that whether you opt for the JAC Online, JAC Coaching, or JAC for Business, you’ll get advice and support from an expert, that is up-to-date, practical and focussed on getting you the result you want.
“Elaine provided me with invaluable support and advice during a period of significant organisational change. Despite the demands of the role, she always delivered". Chief Executive, public sector

With a Diploma in Executive Coaching Practice, I’m an experienced coach and competency-based interviewer, with over 20 years’ coaching experience. During my career, I’ve held various senior leadership roles, primarily in the professional services sector, as well as running my own successful executive search consultancy.
My primary focus when coaching is to support individuals to achieve their job and career goals. I'm results-focussed, with a calm, supportive and thought-provoking coaching style. During our coaching sessions, we will work together to explore your job and career objectives and any obstacles that you may be experiencing. We'll also discuss your strengths, identify areas for improvement and prepare you for anything a job change or interview may throw at you.
“I found Hamish’s coaching style worked really well for me and helped me considerably. Some of the techniques used challenged me and made me reflect deeply, and once I got accustomed to this approach, I found it extremely helpful. Hamish took great care to build a very thorough view and understanding of the issues that I wished to discuss. This ensured that our interaction was very focussed and effective.” Senior Manager, Engineering Consulting
“Hugely responsive to our difficult and sometimes changing demands". HR Director, Pharmaceuticals
